About Amy

Amy Burley, MA, LPC, License No. 81431, is a warm, caring and experienced mental health professional. She is trained and proficient in offering evidence-based and effective therapeutic interventions to help you, or a loved one, feel better and make positive changes. You will find Amy approachable and easy to talk to. Amy has specific and specialized training in reputable psychotherapy modalities and is able to create a specific treatment plan for each client, meeting them at their point of need. Amy’s specialized training includes:

  • Trauma-focused CBT

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Therapy)

  • Expressive Arts therapy

  • Play therapy (Sand tray therapy, Child-centered Play Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy)

 

Amy Burley holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, earning both at Amberton University, completing her university practicum at Jewish Family Services of Dallas, and providing professional counseling to children, teens, families, and adults at several non-profit counseling centers and in private practice settings in the North Dallas metroplex. Amy opened her own private counseling practice, Hope Dynamics Counseling LLC, in the West Plano community in July 2022 and feels privileged to work with individuals in her office as well as through Telehealth counseling to other Texas residents.

 

Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, Amy enjoyed a career teaching art and English at the middle school and high school levels and worked as a high school counselor. Amy has a heart for helping all clients find nurture, compassion and healing for their inner child; experience personal insight, gain self-compassion, and find empowerment and resolution for lingering issues that might inhibit life satisfaction or the attainment of one’s goals and dreams. In her practice, Amy works with individual clients (ages 9-adult) and coaches parents on effective communications and limit-setting strategies.

 

In her spare time. Amy enjoys spending time with family, gardening, home decor projects, painting, reading, playing with her Schnoodle pup, and taking walks in nature.
